Venues

Freakin’ Awesome Gay Stuff is an events company—we do not own any venues, and instead, we partner with amazing spaces that allow us to host our events.

Get to know some of the spaces we have used in the past and others we continue to use for our events.

Know of an amazing venue you’d like to see us run events in? Let us know! 🙂

Studio 163 (by PWA)

163 Queen St. E – 4th floor

This is a large, open concept event space owned by PWA (Toronto People with AIDS Foundation) and operates as a non-profit. By attending events run by Freakin’ Awesome Gay Stuff in this space, you’re also helping to support PWA’s operations which include free services for Toronto’s LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive community. You can learn more about PWA at pwatoronto.org.

This is an accessible venue. There is an elevator to get to the 4th floor.

The Drink

459 Church St. 2nd Floor

The Drink is a cozy upstairs bar on Church St known for their pizzas, nachos and drag shows. We run chill, social events in this space for all genders.

ACCESSIBILITY
Sadly, this venue is not fully accessible. It is located on the second floor and there is both a small outdoor set of stairs and a larger indoor set of stairs.

Buddies

12 Alexander St.

Buddies (officially Buddies in Bad Times Theatre) is a Toronto’s oldest LGBTQ theatre company and they just happen to have a cool space for events too.

In this space, we tend to run our more PG events that bring together all of the LGBTQ+ community.

This is an accessible venue.

Anvil

Anvil is a new maze-like venue that blends anonymity with a cruisy feel.

We have run one event in this space to date.

Former Venues (RIP)

Closed down, but kept here for nostalgic reasons

THE LAIR was a dark, basement space. We used to run body-positive and x-positive events in this space and was the space we used the most from 2024-2025, which at its peak, had 1-2 events run by us PER WEEK. The Lair has closed down permanently in October 2025.

FLIP was a coffee-shop style space that closed down in Spring 2025. We used to run socials and board game events in this space.

BOOMBOX was a two-floor venue in College St in the West End that had a cocktail lounge on the first floor and a cool nightclub-like space on the lower level. This is where we got our start. Sadly this venue closed down.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Instead, we partner with great venues to help us supercharge our programming and run more events even more often!

Most venues run other programming on other days/times when we are not there. We encourage you to check them out and support them if you like their vibe.

Usually, no. While we love sharing stuff from other community groups, we usually don’t have the information (or authority) to speak about events run by other organizations.

A great resource for a wide variety of events is yohomo.ca

Buddies has entered into a multi-year contract with a ticketing platform called Showpass which has locked them into an exclusivity agreement. We know it’s an inconvenience for many, but you will need to buy tickets for events at Buddies through Showpass.

All venues accept cash, Interac debit, VISA and MasterCard unless we notify you otherwise in the event description.

Some venues take AMEX and some don’t, so we encourage you to bring an alternate method if you have AMEX and are unsure. We cannot confirm or deny AMEX availability.
